Schnell geht es in der Versionsgeschichte von Android, dem freien Betriebssystem der OHA. Mein letzter Post zum Video von Android 1.6 ist noch keine 10 Tage alt, schon gibt es die offizielle Ankündigung zu Android 2.0. Hauptsächlich getrieben durch den bevorstehenden Launch des Verizon Droid, das mit Android 2.0 ausgeliefert wird, wurden heute die Details zu Eclair (Android 2.0) bekannt.
Android 2.0 soll ab November ausgeliefert werden, wobei noch in keiner Form klar ist, ob es auch entsprechende Updates für bestehende Endgeräte geben wird. Interessant ist allerdings, dass die Überschrift “Android 2.0, Release 1” heißt. Werden wir mit zukünftigen Endgeräten (z.B. Sony Ericsson Rachel) weitere Releases sehen?
Laut Android Webseite werden Nutzer folgende neue Features nutzen können (Auszug davon – das volle Set findet sich am Blog):
Contacts and accounts
- Multiple accounts can be added to a device for email and contact synchronization, including Exchange accounts.

Android virtual keyboard
- An improved keyboard layout to makes it easier to hit the correct characters and improve typing speed.

- Refreshed UI with actionable browser URL bar enables users to directly tap the address bar for instant searches and navigation.
- Support for double-tap zoom.
- Support for HTML5:
Calendar
- Agenda view provides infinite scrolling.
- Events indicate the attending status for each invitee.
- Invite new guests to events.
